How to change your Microsoft account name or address

   

During the initial setup of Windows I chose a user account name, Fred. Of course this account was administrator. I then thought that I should use a non Admin account for everyday stuff and perhaps be more resistant to malicious attacks that might make major changes to my pc.

My first move was to change the admin user name from Fred to 'Admin' via control panel - no problem so far. In the usernname box I typed 'Fred' then got a red message "Please type a different username". I rebooted the pc but got the same result after trying again.

This simple looking task is not so simple after all. Any advice will be appreciated. Any account can suffer from user profile corruption. This can ultimately stop you being able to log in to an account. If that happens to your only Admin-level account on the computer then you are completely locked out of the computer.
